ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, WHEN A LOAD IS APPLIED ON THE PARKING INTERLOCK SYSTEM, THE LOCKING CONE, WHICH IS PART OF THE PARKING PAWL SYSTEM, MAY CREATE AN INDENTATION ON AN UNHARDENED GUIDE PLATE AT THE CONE CONTACT AREA. AN INDENTATION MAY ALSO RESULT IN A RAISED EDGE TOWARDS THE LOCKING CONE GUIDE CHANNEL WHICH MAY HINDER THE LOCKING CONE FROM REACHING ITS END POSITION.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PARKING PAWL GLIDE PLATE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON DECEMBER 23, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ASTON MARTIN AT 201-818-8328.

Pre-purchase checklist
- Match the VIN on the dash, door jamb and title — they must be identical.
- Cold-start the engine; listen for knocks and check for blue or white exhaust smoke.
- Test-drive through all gears at low and highway speed — no slipping, shudder or pulling.
- Confirm every warning light clears at startup (none should stay on).
- Check fluids — oil, coolant, transmission — for level, color and leaks.
- Look underneath for rust, fresh undercoating or signs of collision repair.
- Always get an independent pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic.
